A Spirit-filled church family in Pietermaritzburg, called to advance the Kingdom of God.
Our vision
A well that never runs dry
Jacob's Well takes its name from the encounter in John 4, where Jesus offered a Samaritan woman water that would become in her “a well of water springing up to eternal life”. That is our heart for every person who walks through our doors: a genuine encounter with Jesus that changes everything.
We are an interdenominational, family-centred church committed to the whole counsel of God — worship, the Word, prayer, discipleship and compassion in action.
Our journey
From a living room to a church home
2005
The well is dug
On 17 January 2005 a small group of believers gathered in a home at 5 Heron Place, Pietermaritzburg, to pray and seek God together. Jacob's Well Ministries was born out of that prayer meeting.
2006 – 2012
Growing in the city
Home cells multiplied across Northdale and the surrounding suburbs. Youth, ladies and men's ministries were established, and the church began reaching out into the community through outreach and benevolence work.
2013 – 2019
A permanent home
The congregation moved into its own premises at 92 Delhi Road, Northdale — a building dedicated to worship, discipleship and equipping the saints for the work of ministry.
2020 – today
Advancing the Kingdom
Through seasons of challenge the church family has continued to worship, serve and grow — online and in person — with a renewed commitment to prayer, family and the Great Commission.

Our beliefs and values
We believe in one God — Father, Son and Holy Spirit — the authority of Scripture, salvation through Jesus Christ alone, the work of the Holy Spirit today, and the Church as God's family on earth.
The Word of God
Scripture is our foundation for faith, doctrine and daily living.

We believe prayer changes people, families, cities and nations.
Spirit-filled worship
We worship in spirit and in truth, expecting God to move among us.

Founder & Senior Pastor
Pastor Neville Sewlall founded Jacob's Well Ministries on 17 January 2005 following a prophetic vision given to him and his family. What began as a small gathering at 5 Heron Place in Pietermaritzburg has grown into a thriving congregation with more than twelve active departments, serving the Northdale community and beyond.
